Terms of Use

Effective [DATE]

These terms govern your use of patchsonar.com and any Patch Sonar emails or alerts (together, "Patch Sonar"). Patch Sonar is operated by [LLC NAME], a [STATE] limited liability company ("we," "us"). By using Patch Sonar, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use it.

1. General information only

Patch Sonar summarizes publicly available information about software vulnerabilities, mainly from the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) and software vendors' own advisories. It is general information for awareness. It is not professional, security, legal or technical advice, and it is not a substitute for your own assessment or for advice from a qualified professional who knows your systems.

2. No guarantee of accuracy or completeness

Vulnerability information changes quickly, and sources sometimes disagree or are corrected after publication. We work to be accurate and current, but we do not guarantee that any entry is accurate, complete, or up to date, or that Patch Sonar lists every vulnerability that affects you. A status such as "All clear" means only that we have not listed an actively exploited issue for that group; it does not mean your systems are safe.

Before you change any system, confirm affected versions, fixed versions and instructions with the vendor's official advisory. You are responsible for decisions you make about your own systems.

3. Defensive use

Patch Sonar exists to help people protect their systems. We do not publish exploit code or instructions for attacking systems, and you may not use Patch Sonar to plan or carry out unauthorized access to any system.

4. Disclaimer of warranties

Patch Sonar is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

5. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, [LLC NAME] and its owners, employees and contributors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, revenue or business, or any security incident, arising from or related to your use of, or reliance on, Patch Sonar. Our total liability for any claim related to Patch Sonar will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or US $50.

6. Third-party links and sources

Entries link to CISA, vendors and news outlets. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for their content, accuracy or availability. Product and company names are trademarks of their owners and are used only to identify the products discussed; their use doesn't imply any affiliation or endorsement.

7. Our content

Our written summaries, design and branding belong to [LLC NAME]. You may share links and quote short excerpts with attribution to Patch Sonar. Information that originates from the U.S. government, such as CISA's catalog, is not ours and remains publicly available from its source.

8. Paid services

If we offer paid services, such as product-specific alerts, additional terms shown at sign-up will apply to them, and these terms will apply to the extent they don't conflict.

9. Changes and availability

We may change, suspend or stop any part of Patch Sonar at any time. We may update these terms; the effective date above shows when they last changed. Continuing to use Patch Sonar after a change means you accept the updated terms.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of [STATE], without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in [COUNTY], [STATE].
